Sweden’s Loreen wins Eurovision 2023 again.

Loreen Wins Eurovision 2023 with “Tattoo”

Sweden’s Loreen made history by becoming the first woman to win Eurovision twice with her song “Tattoo” in Liverpool, England. Finland’s Käärijä came in second with “Cha Cha Cha,” winning the viewer vote but unable to overtake Loreen’s lead after the jury results from 37 participating countries. Loreen expressed her gratitude and compared her win to “coming back to a family.” She is now the second person after Ireland’s Johnny Logan to win the contest twice, putting Sweden on par with Ireland as the most successful Eurovision countries, 49 years after Abba’s famous victory.

Ukrainian Spirit Infuses Eurovision Despite Political Tensions

The 67th edition of the musical festival was held in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine, last year’s winner, which was unable to host this year due to Russia’s invasion. Organizers had to balance putting Ukraine center stage while avoiding overt political messages, which are not allowed in the contest. The show was infused with the spirit of Ukraine, notably in a rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” jointly sung in the arena and in Ukraine, bringing many in the audience to tears. Despite political tensions, the event was a success, watched by thousands in person and millions on TV.
