Epstein Victim Allowed To Sue Big Banks For Allegedly Enabling Sex Offender: ‘We Will Leave No Stone Unturned’

An anonymous victim, identified as Jane Doe, of deceased child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein has been given permission to file a lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank, accusing them of benefitting from the Epstein sex trafficking operation through their provision of financial services. The United States District Judge Jed Rakoff threw out most of the charges against the two financial institutions in separate proposals for class action lawsuits on Monday, but lawyers for the victim and the government of the U.S. Virgin Islands will still be allowed to argue that the banks assisted Epstein. The lawsuit from Jane Doe contends that Epstein received special treatment from JPMorgan Chase due to his role in attracting clients to the investment bank, while the U.S. Virgin Islands accuses the bank of continuing to work with Epstein despite his guilty plea for charges of soliciting prostitution from an underage girl in 2008.

In a separate act of accountability, JPMorgan Chase filed a lawsuit against Jes Staley, a former senior executive of the bank and former chief executive of Barclays, alleging that he should be held responsible for any damages the company may incur if the claims filed against them by Jane Doe and the U.S. Virgin Islands are upheld. Staley allegedly exchanged over 1,200 emails with Epstein, discussing young girls and their trips to Little St. James, Epstein’s private estate in the U.S. Virgin Islands. JPMorgan Chase seems to be facing the consequences of their association with Epstein, especially in the wake of the accusations facing one of their own executives.

The lawsuits against JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank have emerged months after Ghislaine Maxwell’s sentencing to 20 years in prison on multiple sex trafficking charges. Maxwell was accused of being an integral part of Epstein’s recruitment process and was alleged to have normalised the abuse.

The Epstein case continues to have repercussions, even after his death, and it is hoped that the lawsuits against the banks will prove beneficial in the search for justice for the many victims of Epstein’s sex trafficking operation.
