The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Mao Ning expressed her excitement about Musk’s visit and said, “We are happy to see foreign enterprises investing in new business in China, taking root in the Chinese market, and sharing development opportunities.”

Aside from visiting the Shanghai plant, Musk may also meet with Premier Li Qiang to discuss Tesla’s automated-driving technology that the company plans to introduce in China.
