During an interview with Bill Maher on HBO’s “Real Time,” Twitter CEO Elon Musk spoke out against the so-called “woke mind virus,” which he believes is a threat to humanity. According to Musk, this virus stifles free speech and is fundamentally anti-meritocratic.

The Importance of Free Speech

Musk emphasized the importance of being cautious about anything that suppresses free speech and is anti-meritocratic. He believes that the “woke mind virus” is dangerous because it prevents people from questioning things and undermines the First Amendment.

He also pointed out that it’s “bizarre” that the political Left has gone from being pro-free speech to advocating censorship. Musk believes that we must protect free speech, as it’s only relevant when it’s someone you don’t like saying something you don’t like.

Protecting the First Amendment

Musk reminded viewers that the First Amendment exists because people came from countries where they couldn’t speak freely without fear of being thrown into prison. He believes that we should be extremely concerned about anything that undermines the First Amendment and that censorship will eventually return on those who advocate it.
