Welker attempted to trap Stefanik by asking if she still believed that January 6 was a tragic day and if those responsible should be held accountable. This was an effort to push the false narrative that January 6 was an “insurrection” and justify the ongoing investigation and prosecution of nonviolent protesters by the Biden Department of Justice.
Refusing to take the bait, Stefanik responded by calling out NBC and the biased media for playing only a selective excerpt of her speech. She condemned the violence of both the January 6 protest and the Black Lives Matter riots, while also emphasizing the importance of election integrity and the security of our democracy.

“That’s why I’m proud to serve on the Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Government,” Stefanik stated. “The American people want answers and transparency. They see the double standards in this country, where the rules are different for the Clintons, Bidens, and everyday patriotic Americans.”
Stefanik added, “The real threat to our democracy is these baseless witch hunt investigations and lawsuits against President Trump. It’s undemocratic and it’s shredding our Constitution. And you know who agrees with me, Kristen? The American people. That’s why President Trump is winning in poll after poll against Joe Biden.”
Welker also tried to corner Stefanik by asking if she would vote to certify the results of the 2024 election no matter what they show. Stefanik, once again, refused to fall into the trap and simply stated, “We will see if this is a legal and valid election.”
This response has been twisted by the corporate media to falsely portray Stefanik as anti-democratic. It seems that Welker and her media colleagues fail to understand the purpose of certifying a presidential election, which is to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. Representatives should not commit to certifying or not certifying an election until it has taken place and been conducted lawfully.
Importantly, Stefanik highlighted the fact that Democrats are already interfering in the 2024 election through various means. “So far, we’re seeing Democrats so desperate that they’re trying to remove President Trump from the ballot. That is a suppression of the American people,” Stefanik emphasized.
