Dutch TV Show Presents Naked Transgender Adults To Children. One Participant Describes Gender Reassignment Surgery As ‘Euphoric’

The Dutch television show “Gewoon Bloot” (“Simply Naked”) recently aired an episode featuring naked adults identifying as transgender in front of children aged 10 to 12. The show’s host, Edson da Graça, introduced the episode and explained that the adults are there to answer any questions the children may have about their naked bodies. Clips from the episode were shared on Twitter, causing controversy.

During the episode, show participants spoke about their experiences with gender reassignment surgery and wearing padding or a phallic object to give the appearance of having a penis. One participant said that they felt “euphoric” after having gender reassignment surgery, and a child in the audience likened the feeling to flying. The host and participants also spoke about the spectrum of genders beyond male and female.

The premise of “Simply Naked” has been criticized by some, with Dutch MP Tunahan Kuzu calling it “ridiculous” and demanding a boycott. Conservative politician Thierry Baudet went as far as to say that the show is “promoting pedophilia.” However, Dutch public broadcaster NOS maintains that the show promotes body positivity and aims to reduce stigma around nudity.
