Donald retorts to MSNBC’s Joy Reid, dismissing her claim of him being a ‘Black MAGA prop

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) debunked allegations that the Republican Party is exploiting him, by redirecting this notion towards his critics. MSNBC’s Joy-Ann Reid ‌fired ‌at Donalds⁢ for his appearance at a Trump rally, labeling ⁤him as a token black ‌representative in the GOP. This, according to Reid was a non-credible attempt, akin to their promise of electing a black Speaker of the House. Responding on Fox News⁣ Sunday, Donalds dismissed Reid’s allegations as ‘crabs in a barrel’, noting his divergent viewpoints should‍ not invite such criticism.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) mocked the idea that the Republican Party is using him by turning the idea around on his critics.

MSNBC anchor Joy-Ann Reid recently attacked the Florida representative for attending Donald Trump’s rally in the Bronx. Reid referred to Donalds as “the black guy that Republicans love to roll out as fake proof” that black people participate in the GOP.

“It’s a joke and just as credible as when they pretended they were going to make that guy Speaker of the House, cause they weren’t going to do that either,” Reid said.

“First of all, I find Joy’s comments to be nothing more than ‘crabs in a barrel,’” Donalds responded to video of Reid’s comments on Fox News Sunday. “Just because I have a different viewpoint, different way of looking at the world, different politics, now all of a sudden I’m being used? You can make an argument that MSNBC is using her, but I’m gonna move on.”

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is bleeding black supporters. He swept the 2020 vote with 92% of the black vote, but is currently polling at around 77% among them.

“We’re looking at expanding the political map, not shrinking it based upon race or anything else because that’s what Joy Reid and Joe Biden and the rest of them wanna do. They want to shrink the political map based upon previous dogma and racial lines,” Donalds said. “That is not what President Trump’s focus is. His focus is on all of America.”
