Former President Trump Questions Handling of Biden’s Document Case

Hours after facing additional charges in the investigation into his⁤ handling of ‍classified documents, former President Donald Trump took⁢ to his social ​media platform to defend​ himself and raise questions about the treatment of ⁣the “Crooked Joe Biden Document’s case.”

“Whatever happened to the Crooked⁢ Joe Biden Document’s ‌case? He had 20 ⁤times more Boxes ⁤than I did, and he wasn’t covered by the Presidential Records⁢ Act. I was!”

Trump wasted no time pointing out the discrepancy in how the two separate cases are being handled, specifically highlighting his main political rival, Joe Biden.

Biden’s Investigation and Trump’s Response

Biden has been under investigation by special counsel Robert Hur for his handling of classified documents since January. However, it is expected to be some time before any updates on his case are revealed. While the circumstances surrounding the holding of the⁢ documents differ between the two men,​ strategists believe that Biden’s immediate return of the documents, along with former Vice President Mike Pence, who⁢ was also investigated, puts him in a⁣ better legal position than Trump.

Unsurprisingly, the former president disagrees.

“When it first came out that Biden had all of these ‍Docs, many Classified, almost⁣ everyone, including those on the Left, said, ‘there goes the case against Trump.’ But‌ they waited and waited, got failed prosecutor Deranged Jack ​Smith, and STRUCK – but did almost nothing on the REALLY BAD Biden Documents case, many stored in ‍Chinatown!”

Trump expressed his frustration on Truth Social, emphasizing the perceived bias in the handling of the cases.

New Charges and Republican Backlash

On Thursday, the Justice Department ‌named a third defendant in Trump’s case, Carlos De Oliveria, an employee of Mar-a-Lago. Prosecutors allege that Trump conspired ⁣with De Oliveria and another co-defendant, Walt Nauta, in an‌ attempt to delete surveillance footage. The former president now faces a total of⁣ 40 counts ‍in the investigation, with⁣ the⁣ additional charges carrying a combined maximum⁢ sentence of 50 years in prison ⁣if convicted.

Republicans were quick to criticize the timing of the additional charges against Trump, particularly in light of the collapse of Hunter Biden’s “sweetheart” plea deal.

The new charges related to altering security camera footage carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison each, while the charge of willfully retaining national defense ⁤secrets is punishable by up to ⁣10 ​years in prison.

The​ subsequent indictment ⁤in the classified‌ documents case coincides with a separate special counsel investigation into Trump’s alleged efforts to subvert⁤ the 2020 election, as a federal grand jury convened in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
