DOJ convicts three Portland anti-ICE rioters in a week
Three individuals involved in anti-deportation protests in Portland, Oregon, pleaded guilty to federal crimes within a week after attacking or interfering with federal officers. Oriana Korol was convicted on July 23 for interfering with law enforcement and assaulting an officer; she faces up to one year in prison. Ginovanni Brumbelow pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer with a wooden stake during a June 2025 riot and coudl face up to 20 years in prison. Katherine Vogel, arrested after putting red paint on an ICE facility and punching a federal agent, pleaded guilty to interfering with law enforcement and may serve up to a year. All incidents occurred at portland’s ICE facility, which has seen ongoing protests since President Biden ramped up deportations in early 2025. Multiple arrests related to these protests have been reported, highlighting heightened tensions and increased federal enforcement activity in the area.

Oriana Korol was convicted on July 23, followed by Ginovanni Brumbelow on Monday and Katherine Vogel on Tuesday, according to DOJ statements. U.S. Attorney Scott Bradford’s office is handling Portland’s protest-related cases after President Donald Trump’s former attorney general, Pam Bondi, appointed him in July 2025.

All three incidents took place at Portland’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility, which has seen near-constant protests since Trump returned to office in January 2025 and ramped up deportations, according to multiple reports. The Portland Police Bureau has counted nearly 100 arrests “related to ICE protest activity” since June 2025, while federal arrest numbers are unclear.
Brumbelow hit a federal agent in the head with a wooden stake as the officer tried to arrest someone else during a June 2025 riot, the DOJ said. He pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon and agreed to pay the victim restitution. Brumbelow could also face up to 20 years in prison upon sentencing in October.
Agents caught Vogel in September putting red paint on the ICE facility, and she punched an agent in the jaw during arrest, prosecutors said. She was initially charged with assaulting the officer, but ultimately pleaded guilty to interfering with law enforcement. She could serve up to a year in prison at her October sentencing.
Korol was arrested weeks after Vogel when federal agents were clearing the ICE building’s driveway to let employees leave, according to prosecutors.

“While law enforcement was arresting another person a short distance away from the property, Korol interfered with the arrest of that person and, after being moved away from the arrest, kicked a federal officer,” the DOJ said.
She pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer and faces up to one year in prison in August.
