He plans to reveal that Hunter had numerous phone conversations with then-Vice President Joe Biden while discussing foreign business partnerships and investments. However, Judge Ronnie Abrams is not expected to make a decision on the DOJ’s request before Archer testifies.
Response from Archer’s Counsel
Archer’s legal counsel has dismissed the DOJ’s request as premature, citing ongoing appeals and a newly-discovered sentencing error. They plan to respond to the government’s request by Wednesday. However, DOJ officials disagree with the counsel’s position and believe a report date should be set.
Matthew Schwartz, Archer’s attorney, has stated that the DOJ’s request is not connected to Archer’s sentencing or the timing of the filing. He also dismissed speculation that the Biden administration is attempting to intimidate Archer before his meeting with the House Oversight Committee. Schwartz emphasized that Archer will fulfill his civic duty and honestly answer the committee’s questions.

Oversight Chair James Comer has previously stated that Archer played a significant role in the Biden family’s business deals abroad, including China, Russia, and Ukraine. Archer’s testimony is seen as crucial in shedding light on these deals.
