On ‍the newest episode⁣ of⁤ the “Drill Down podcast,” Seamus‌ Bruner, Director of Research at‌ the Government Accountability Institute,‍ stated ⁢that ⁢FBI Director Christopher Wray’s deflective Congressional⁢ testimony‍ last week heavily⁤ supports his own research into ⁢the Bureau.

The Government Accountability Institute ⁤(GAI) is ‌a “nonpartisan‌ team⁤ of researchers, writers, editors, ‌fact-checkers, and subject ⁤matter ‌experts who work to uncover those politicians who abuse public service to feather their own‍ nests and enrich ‌their⁤ own families and‌ associates,” according⁢ to the think tank’s website.

 ⁢

On ⁤the podcast episode, the⁢ two ‍GAI investigators discussed how the ⁣FBI has had a ⁣difficult few‌ weeks.

⁢ ⁤

“The past four FBI directors have all been involved in some kind ⁢of political scandal, weaponizing ‍the Bureau against political opponents,”⁣ Bruner ⁣told ⁤host Eric ‍Eggers.

‍ ‍ ⁤

Bruner⁢ and Eggers‍ pointed out⁢ how‍ surfacing ‌information⁣ from ⁣two ⁢committee probes‌ have shown ‍numerous occasions‍ in which FBI⁤ officials‌ intentionally hampered⁣ investigations and alerted Hunter Biden’s attorneys⁣ to a strategically planned search of his storage⁣ facility.

‌ ‌

Last week,⁣ Rep. ‌Jim Jordan (R-OH) ‍questioned current⁢ FBI Director Christopher ⁣Wray about ⁣the agency’s efforts in approving surveillance of parents who spoke out against ‌policy decisions at local school board meetings, as well ⁣as a local field office’s surveillance of Latin-Mass Catholics as potential ⁤“domestic ⁤terrorists.”

‍ ⁤

There are⁣ also⁣ new⁢ reports related⁢ to how the ‍FBI collaborated with ⁣Ukraine’s⁣ government to suppress American citizens on social media.

 ⁣ ‌⁣

The subcommittee on ‌the ⁢“weaponization” of the⁢ federal government of⁣ the House Judiciary Committee⁤ stated last week that ‍the FBI aided⁤ censorship requests from Ukraine’s own ‍intelligence service ⁢(SBU), ‌passing ⁣them along⁢ to ‌platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and ⁣YouTube.

“In ⁣doing⁤ so, the FBI ⁢violated‍ Americans’ First‌ Amendment ‌rights and⁤ potentially undermined our national security,” the committee’s report‌ stated.

Bruner,‍ who‌ wrote ‌“Compromised: How Money‍ and Politics‍ Drive FBI Corruption,” examined the committee‌ reports and‍ said, ⁤“Getting⁣ to ⁢the⁤ bottom of all ⁣this, we see⁣ that it ‍goes all the ⁢way to the ‍top.”

‍⁤

“Eighty ⁤percent of⁣ GOP voters believe⁣ that the⁣ 2024⁣ election is also ⁣going to⁣ have nefarious ⁢involvement ⁢by the‍ FBI,” he added. “That’s⁤ a big problem. When Americans⁣ can’t trust both ⁤their elections and⁤ their ⁤law enforcement, ‌they⁤ don’t have ⁢a whole⁢ lot ‌of options.”
