DeSantis Signs Bill Into Law Allowing Concealed Carry Without Permit

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, signed a bill into law on Monday that allows Florida residents to carry a concealed firearm without obtaining a permit. According to the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), this new law makes Florida the 26th state to have a constitutional carry system in place. NRA-ILA Interim Executive Director Randy Kozuch commended Florida for adopting this legislation and allowing citizens to exercise their Second Amendment rights without bureaucratic obstacles, affirming their right to self-defense. The law applies to eligible citizens who are 21 years of age or older and requires no permit or fee. The legislation received overwhelming support from Republicans, who have a supermajority in both the House and the Senate, with the bill passing by a 76-32 vote in the House and 27-13 in the Senate.
