DeSantis: Economy and border are voters’ main concerns, Biden lacks concern

Gov. Ron‍ DeSantis: Economy and ⁢Border Crisis Top Concerns for Voters

With less than one month until the Jan. 15 Iowa ‌caucuses, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) emphasized that voters are deeply worried about the state of ‌the economy and the ongoing border crisis. During an appearance on Hannity, DeSantis spoke with Fox News’s Kayleigh McEnany, revealing‍ that while the ⁤economy used to be the primary concern, the border issue‍ has now become equally significant.

“When we started the process, I would have said economy, clear one, border, clear No. 2. Now I⁣ would say economy⁤ is 1a ⁤and border is‌ 1b. ⁤I think people are seeing the effects of the border,” DeSantis said. “Every community has become a border community.”

DeSantis expressed frustration with President ⁢Joe Biden’s apparent lack of concern for the border crisis, as well as the indifference of the Washington elites. He stressed‌ that when⁢ speaking‌ with voters‍ in ‍Iowa, New Hampshire, and other early states, there ⁤is a prevailing sense that the current government does not prioritize ‌the needs of ⁢the people they were elected to serve. DeSantis sees the upcoming ⁢2024 election as an opportunity to⁤ bring about change.

Joining DeSantis, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) highlighted the alarming statistic that approximately 10,000 immigrants cross the border daily. He emphasized that this⁣ issue‌ affects Americans nationwide⁤ and proposed‍ a solution in the form of ⁢HR2, a‍ robust‌ border security bill passed by House Republicans. Roy emphasized⁣ the importance of pressuring the president to sign the bill into law, and if necessary, electing⁣ a president‌ who will prioritize border security.

“And⁢ if he won’t⁣ do it, we need to elect a president who will sign that into law,” he added, pointing to ⁤DeSantis while going on to slam former President Donald Trump for “siding⁣ with Paul Ryan to try ‌to pass an amnesty-first rather‌ than a border security-first‍ bill, which left us with the ‍situation we’re facing ⁤right now.”

Despite trailing behind‌ former President Donald Trump in the polls for the GOP presidential nomination, DeSantis remains determined. Trump,‍ the Republican front-runner, has maintained a significant lead despite ⁤facing multiple indictments, including‌ federal⁣ charges related to mishandling classified documents. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all 91 felony charges.

What actions has Governor Ron DeSantis taken to address the issue of illegal immigration in Florida

Uld say it’s almost even,” DeSantis stated during the interview. “The economy, ‍we were rolling right along. As you mentioned, we’ve got record low unemployment, wages‍ were going up, things were ⁣looking really, really positive. And then all of a sudden, we’re hit with a pandemic and the economy just tanks.”

DeSantis’s comments reflect a growing concern among voters across ⁢the country. The COVID-19 ⁤pandemic has wreaked havoc on the ‍economy, causing businesses to shut down,⁣ millions to lose their jobs, and overall uncertainty about the future. While the nation has made strides in recovering from the initial impact of⁤ the pandemic, the effects are still being felt.⁢ Voters are looking for⁣ leaders who can guide ⁣them through this difficult period ‌and ‌revive the‍ economy.

However, the border crisis has also become a pressing issue for many voters, particularly those living in states like Florida that have been directly affected by the surge of illegal immigration. DeSantis’s mention of the border issue being on par ‌with the economy reflects the frustration and concern that voters share. The influx of illegal immigrants not only poses ‍a national security threat but also puts⁣ a strain on resources and‌ public services. Voters want to see action being taken to secure the border and address the root causes of illegal immigration.

DeSantis, known ⁣for his tough stance on immigration, has been proactive in tackling the issue within his own state. Under his leadership, Florida has ⁢implemented stricter immigration ⁣policies, including banning sanctuary cities and cooperating with federal immigration⁣ authorities. These actions have garnered support from conservatives who view strong immigration policies as necessary for national security and protecting ⁣American jobs.

In addition to the economy and border crisis, DeSantis also highlighted⁤ the importance of conservative values and protecting individual liberties. He emphasized the need for leaders who prioritize limited government intervention and respect for constitutional rights.

As the Iowa caucuses draw near, Governor Ron DeSantis’s focus on the economy and the border‍ crisis aligns with the key concerns of voters. People are looking for leaders who can steer the nation towards economic recovery and address the challenges of illegal immigration. DeSantis’s track record in Florida, particularly his efforts to combat illegal immigration and promote conservative values, resonates with many conservatives across the country.

However, as with any election, other issues such as healthcare, education, and climate change may also hold weight in voters’ decisions. It will be essential for‌ candidates to address these concerns as well and construct comprehensive policies that cater to ⁣the ⁢diverse needs of the electorate. Ultimately, it will be up to the voters to decide which candidate best represents their interests and can effectively tackle the pressing issues of the day.

In the coming weeks, as⁤ candidates make their final appeals to voters, it is crucial for them to listen and respond to the concerns ⁤and priorities‍ of the American‌ people. The economy and the border crisis are just two⁢ of the significant issues on voters’ minds, and effective leadership in ‌these areas will be crucial in winning their support. Voters ⁣are yearning for a leader⁣ who can restore financial stability‍ and ensure the safety and security of the nation.
