DeSantis jokes about smuggling Novak Djokovic into Florida

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis On Wednesday, he joked about the smuggling of Serbian tennis stars Novak Djokovic into Florida amid a COVID-19 He is prohibited from entering by a rule

“You know, there’s something called natural immunity, which the CDC didn’t want to recognize, but we all know is a fact of life. And so he poses zero risk to the United States, zero risk to the state of Florida,” DeSantis spoke during a conference. “I would run a boat from the Bahamas here for him. I would do that 100%.”

Djokovic is currently prevented from entering America because he refused to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. His ability to participate in the Miami Open (March 19 to April 2) is now in danger. DeSantis wrote to President Joe Biden on Tuesday asking for Djokovic’s permission to travel to the U.S.

The White House confirmed Wednesday that COVID-19 rules were still in effect. Biden had until March 10, according to DeSantis, in order for him to prove that Djokovic is not allowed into the U.S. on a boat.

“I would refer you to the CDC, they are the ones who deal with that,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre This was Wednesday. “It’s still in place, and we expect everyone to abide by our country’s rule, whether as a participant or a spectator.”

DeSantis extolled Djokovic’s talents and condemned pandemic-era mandates. His position catapulted Djokovic to superstardom in the GOP. Djokovic refused the vaccine and was subsequently barred from playing in the Australian Open. The incident sparked international protests.
