Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov.⁤ Ron DeSantis has finally addressed⁢ the ‍controversial topic ⁢of the 2020 presidential election. In a‍ recent campaign event in Iowa, DeSantis made it clear that while he believes the election was not conducted ideally, claims of fraud are not valid.

DeSantis, who has been actively combating election fraud in Florida through a special ‍office, had previously avoided giving a definitive answer on the subject. However, he has now firmly stated that the‌ election is what it is, and the theories of fraud that were put‌ forward have not been proven true.

During his campaign event, DeSantis emphasized the importance of conducting a fair election that people can have confidence in. He ‌criticized the practice of changing​ the rules in ⁢the middle of the game and engaging ‍in ⁣activities like ballot harvesting and censorship with the help of social media platforms.

“You don’t ‍change the rules in the middle of the game. ‌You don’t ballot harvest. ‌You don’t ⁤do ‘Zuckerbucks,’⁤ and clearly, having the agencies work with Facebook to censor ⁤things like Hunter Biden, that’s unfair.”

DeSantis also addressed the theories of Venezuelan ‍election rigging, stating that while⁤ the election may not have been ‍conducted the‍ way he would have liked, it is different from claiming that votes ⁢were stolen like in the case of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Furthermore, DeSantis expressed his opinion on the⁤ potential conviction of former President Donald ‍Trump for charges related to his challenge of the 2020 election.​ He‍ stated that​ if Trump were to be convicted, he would pardon him, citing the need to move forward and focus​ on the country’s future.

“I don’t think it’s in the⁤ best interest of the country to have a former president⁢ that’s​ almost 80 years‌ old go to prison. Just⁤ like [Gerald] ​ Ford pardoned [Richard] Nixon, sometimes you’ve got to put this stuff behind you, and we need to start⁤ focusing on things having to do with⁢ the country’s future. This election needs to​ be about Jan. 20, 2025, not Jan. 6, 2021.”

In addition⁢ to addressing the election, DeSantis‌ criticized ⁢his opponent’s behavior ‌during a New Hampshire town hall. He called out the insults and‌ juvenile behavior,⁢ stating that it is not the way⁢ a great nation should conduct itself or how the president of the United States should⁤ behave.

“As Republicans, that will cause ‍us to lose if we behave that way. There are ​millions of voters out there who do not like what Biden is doing to this​ country… But they aren’t going to sign ‌up for⁤ a candidate who is behaving like that. So let’s be better. Let’s look higher, and let’s set a good ⁣standard for our ‌children to follow.”

DeSantis also took the opportunity to criticize Trump’s record, pointing out that he is running in 2024 on promises he made in 2016 but did not fulfill. He ⁣highlighted the failure to drain​ the swamp ⁣and the fact that Anthony Fauci was running the country ‍at the end ‌of ‍Trump’s presidency.

“We ended his presidency⁤ with Anthony Fauci running the country. He couldn’t even fire Fauci? And so now you’re going to drain ⁢the swamp? Give me a break.”

DeSantis concluded his remarks by addressing the ‍changes in voting rules during⁢ the 2020 election. He⁢ argued that some of these changes ​were unconstitutional and should ​have⁣ been made by the‍ legislature⁣ rather than through emergency executive orders.
