DeSantis approves Florida congressional map that could net GOP four seats

Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed Florida’s new congressional map into law, a change that Republicans say coudl add four seats to their delegation. He posted the proclamation on X saying, “Signed, Sealed, and Delivered.” The move follows DeSantis’s push for redistricting after Virginia voted to redraw its map in Democrats’ favor and comes as Democrats look to challenge the plan in court. the map is projected to give republicans a 24-4 advantage if it survives legal review.


Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has signed Florida’s new congressional map into law that could net Republicans four new seats in the state’s congressional delegation.

DeSantis championed the Sunshine State’s redistricting push after Virginia voted to redraw its map in favor of Democrats. The Florida state legislature passed the maps through the state House and Senate on Wednesday after the Supreme Court released its decision striking down race-based redistricting in Louisiana.

The map would give Republicans a 24-4 advantage in the state if it goes unchallenged in court.
