Dems Panicking Over New “No Labels” Party Siphoning Off Votes

The nonpartisan group No Labels has raised $70 million to try to get on the ballot in all 50 states. In an election that’s expected to be very close, could this new party become a decisive factor in the 2024 presidential election?

No Labels hopes to change politics in America, but Democrats may not like that idea.

The Arizona Democratic Party is trying to block No Labels from getting on the ballot in their state. And some Republicans in other states are researching the potential impact of No Labels on their candidates.

However, Democrats are the ones worrying the most about a third-party candidate that could take votes away from their own candidate.

One of the group’s co-founders, a policy scholar at the Brookings Institution named William Galston, says he would leave No Labels if they run a presidential candidate. He believes that any division of the anti-Trump vote would open the door to his reelection.

Despite some critics, it seems that some No Label Democrats are eager to field a candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

Senator Joe Manchin from West Virginia has been mentioned as a possible No Labels presidential candidate, although he hasn’t announced his intention to run again in 2024.

The same sentiment comes from former Maryland Republican Governor Larry Hogan who believes it is important to have a third-party option in today’s America.

It’s worth noting that third parties in the U.S. usually start out with a lot of excitement and media coverage, but often end up with only 2-3% of the vote. However, in such a close election, even 2-3% of the vote could make a significant difference.

No wonder Democrats are concerned about this new party and want to prevent it from getting on as many state ballots as possible.
