Dems Favor Palestinians Over Israelis For First Time, Poll Shows

The poll comes as progressive legislators have tried to shift Democratic Party support away from Israel

Original “Squad” members Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib (D. Mich.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez(D. N.Y.).

A new Gallup poll shows that Democrats are more likely to vote for Palestinians than Israelis in the Middle East Conflict. This is due to growing opposition from the party leadership to the Jewish State.

Forty-nine percent of Democrats now say they sympathize more with Palestinians, compared to 38 percent who side with Israelis—a staggering 11-point swing since just last year.

The poll shows that anti-Israeli lawmakers and far-leftists have attempted to shift Democratic Party support away Israel over several years.

High-profile “Squad” Members, including Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib in Minnesota and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York, have accused Israel. “apartheid” And called for the cessation of military support for Israel’s Jewish state.

Omar’s claim that U.S. politicians only back Israel because of donations—”It’s all about the Benjamins baby,” she wrote on Twitter in 2019—was widely denounced as anti-Semitic and led to Republicans removing her from the House Foreign Affairs Committee earlier this year. House Democrats voted in 2021 to stop funding Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile defense system, under pressure from far left lawmakers.

“This is an extremely troubling trend,” Matt Brooks, CEO Republican Jewish Coalition. “Many elected Democrats claim to be pro-Israel, but party activists and rank-and-file members are increasingly indifferent and even hostile to the Jewish state. It’s long past time for Democratic leaders to admit they have a problem that must be addressed to restore the historic bipartisan support for Israel.”

Gallup poll shows that Democrats have seen a marked shift in their views on Israel in the past 20 years. This trend has grown more prominent in recent times.

51 percent of Democrats sympathized with Israelis more in 2001 than the 16 percent who sympathized with Palestinians more. The gap was just 5 points for Israel in 2020, and 2 points last year.

Independents also supported Palestinians by 6 points more since 2022. However, they still sided with Israel by 49% to 32%.

According to the poll, Republican views were unchanged with 78 percent supporting Israel.
