Dems deny GOP a midterm win by blocking Husted data center bill
Democrats in the senate blocked a bill called the Ratepayer Protection Act, sponsored by Republican Senator Jon Husted, aimed at protecting households from increased energy costs associated with data centers. The bill fell three votes short of the 60 needed to overcome a filibuster, with nearly all Democrats opposing it-except for four senators who supported the measure. Despite strong support in the House earlier this month, the legislation did not advance, preventing a Republican victory ahead of the midterm elections.

The Ratepayer Protection Act, sponsored by Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH), fell three votes short of the 60 needed to overcome a filibuster and begin debate. All but four Democrats opposed the measure, despite the overwhelming support it received in the House earlier this month. The Democrats who voted in favor were Sens. Maggie Hassan (NH), Amy Klobuchar (MN), Jon Ossoff (GA), and Raphael Warnock (GA).
