Democrats prepare counterprogramming blitz for Trump’s midterm convention
Democrats are preparing to counter teh GOP’s midterm convention in Dallas next week by emphasizing the affordability crisis and their agenda for 2026. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the Democratic National Committee announced plans for Democratic members, including four caucus members, to engage with voters and criticize GOP policies such as rising living costs, Medicaid cuts, and support for military conflicts. Meanwhile, the DNC will hold a press conference to highlight issues with Trump and Republican policies, blaming them for economic hardships faced by families. Progressives launched a satirical website mocking the GOP convention’s agenda, which aims to promote loyalty to Trump and deflect voter concerns. The RNC’s convention will feature numerous speakers, including Trump and Vance, to showcase the party’s priorities. Democrats aim to hold the Republicans accountable and rally support ahead of the midterm elections.
Democrats are gearing up to crash the GOP’s midterm convention in Dallas next week, sending their top messengers to highlight the affordability crisis and their own agenda for 2026.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and the Democratic National Committee announced Friday counterprogramming plans to the GOP’s two-day confab.

Jeffries is sending four members of his Democratic caucus — Oversight ranking member Robert Garcia (D-CA) and Reps. Jason Crow (D-CO), Madeleine Dean (D-PA), and Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) — to Texas.
While there, the members will “engage with everyday Americans who are drowning in the Republican economy, publicly highlight broken GOP promises, discuss the cost of living crisis and continue to expose the Trump Cartel corruption,” a press announcement says.
“While swing seat House Republicans try to hide from their record of raising costs on working families, gutting Medicaid to fund tax breaks for billionaire donors and supporting a reckless war of choice in Iran, House Democrats will be present to hold them accountable,” Jeffries said in a statement. “Americans are drowning in the failed Republican economy. Rather than taking a single step to lower costs, MAGA extremists are partying with their super rich donors in Dallas.”
Meanwhile, the DNC is set to hold a press conference on Wednesday morning, the first day of the convention. Both Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) and Texas Democratic Party Chairman Kendall Scudder are scheduled to speak.
The announcement from the DNC claims the speakers will remind voters that “Trump and Republicans are the reason why families are unable to pay their bills.”
While national Democrats plot their in-person appearances, progressive research organization American Bridge is launching a satirical website mocking the convention.
The website, shared exclusively with the Washington Examiner, jeers that attendees of the event will “learn how to gaslight and avoid voters’ tough questions” and that the agenda is “carefully crafted to give you every tool you need to stay loyal to Trump no matter the cost to the people you represent — and how to blame Biden when all else fails.”
MELANIA TRUMP HAS NO PLANS TO ATTEND RNC’S MIDTERM CONVENTION
The Republican National Committee is expected to feature a total of 109 items and speakers across both nights of the convention, including speeches from both President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
RNC Chairman Joe Gruters said in a previous statement announcing the RNC’s programming schedule that “Over two action-packed days, we will take Americans through the defining issues of our Party’s agenda and what is at stake in November.”
