Democrat Wishes “Terminal Cancer” on Republicans Following Uvalde Shooting

Venture capitalist and woke Democrat Nick Hanauer is a big part of why we don’t see many quality ideas to address tragic events. In the aftermath of the Uvalde mass shooting, he decided to wish “terminal cancer” on who he perceives as his political opponents.

“Let me pray too. Dear God, please reach down in all your mightiness and give all of these Republican politicians terminal cancer. Let them die excruciatingly painful deaths and then chuck them into hell for all eternity. Amen,” Haneur tweeted.

This is obviously the tweet of someone who isn’t mentally well. Indeed, it’s the kind of tweet that should raise flags about the person’s capacity for violence.

I’m sure he and his defenders will claim it’s the kind of emotional reaction that’s needed to pass undefined “gun control” laws. But it’s precisely why nothing gets done after a mass shooting.

Nick Hanauer is the problem

When Hanauer sent his tweet we didn’t have many answers on how the Robb Elementary School shooter obtained his weapons, which ones he actually used, and what was his motivation. It’s safe to say, however, that Republicans didn’t motivate the shooting of innocent children. Yet Hanauer is angrier at unnamed politicians than he is at the actual murderer.

We’ve heard nebulous calls for “reasonable gun control” immediately after the murder. The shooter already violated a number of laws, but if one more reasonable law could have prevented that, I think most Americans would want to hear it. Few are ever floated for debate because partisans are more inclined to use dead children as political props to demonize their political opponents.

Hanauer and almost every national Democrat politician say nothing when kids and adults are murdered or injured in Chicago every week. No passionate speeches on the Senate floor, no NBA press conferences that turn into angry screeds delivered in bad faith, and certainly no call for specific legislation since these shootings occur in the very cities that over-regulate guns. Those deaths aren’t politically advantageous.

The loudest bad-faith Democrats don’t want a plan, they want an enemy

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) delivered an impassioned speech on the Senate floor asking his colleagues to do something — anything — to help stop future school shootings. Media coverage framed this speech as calling out Republicans. But who has control of the Senate? And the House? And the White House?

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who can call any vote he wants, said he would not introduce gun control legislation. He blamed a lack of Republican interest, ensuring the bill wouldn’t pass.

But it was just weeks ago that he introduced a radical bill that would have legalized abortion up until 9 months that he knew wouldn’t pass. That stunt helped Democrats politically as much as it does, in this case, to pretend Republicans want kids to die in mass shootings. It’s a despicable political talking point, one that is spread wildly on social media. It’s much easier to call your opponents names than come up with solutions to problems.

There are some obvious and non-controversial positions to take to help protect soft targets, like schools.

You can’t do this?

Is anyone actually objecting to a school with one point of entry? What about doors that are kept locked during school hours? They can come with easy-to-install technology that opens them when an alarm is triggered in case of fire or at the push of a button from an administrator.

Outside of the fringe anti-police activists, who truly objects to police resource officers on campus? What about security by retired police or military veterans? Is that level of protection too much? I don’t think so.

But we don’t hear these ideas even debated by the ones shouting the loudest about how they want to protect kids. Their end goal is more about banning guns from law-abiding citizens. It’s an ironic position as Democrats push to keep violent criminals out of jail. Some even want to ban gun enhancement charges against criminals.

Who would work with these people?

These activists see these tragedies as a means to promote their political beliefs. Please spare me the claims that Democrats care deeply about children and this isn’t political. They just supported a bill to legalize abortion up until birth.

Rather than agreeing to solutions that actually are common-sense, they embrace unconstitutional gun bans and call all Republicans evil monsters who want to see children die. Or, with Hanauer, they wish a painful death via cancer.

Not all Democrats or activists adhere to these extreme tactics. But most of them say nothing when people like Hanauer spew their divisive hate. When you wish a literal painful death on your political opponents, those opponents won’t want to work with you on the “common sense” solutions you claim to support.
