She took the opportunity to give⁤ a shout-out to her ⁣wife, highlighting the fact that she is married to a woman​ while Johnson has been ⁤openly against gay ‍marriage.

Craig probably assumed that Johnson would take this as a personal affront, as ‍if he were a vampire confronted by⁤ a‌ crucifix at the mere mention of same-sex marriage. But this ​assumption is based on the leftist caricature, not the reality.

Proud to vote⁣ against him on my 15th anniversary with my wife, Cheryl. @RepMikeJohnson, enjoy it ‍while it lasts – it won’t be long.”

The clip of Craig’s statement showed Democrats giving her a standing ovation. They needed something to rally their spirits, no ⁤matter how futile or petty it was, as ​Johnson was elected speaker with 220 votes from​ a unified​ Republican caucus.

The new speaker’s conservative ‌stances seem to have triggered Hakeem Jeffries into making another overblown ​claim, comparing Jan. 6 to⁤ 9/11. ‌Johnson’s socially and ⁤fiscally conservative nature, coupled with his lack of spinelessness, is what⁢ makes Democrats fear him. Yet, as Craig’s empty gesture demonstrates, they still don’t know how to effectively counter him.‍ They continue to fight their caricature of a conservative instead.
