Baltimore-Washington International, Reagan National, Dulles, and Richmond international airports were all issued ground stops. The temporary halt to air travel is set to last until at least 10 p.m. EDT, according to NBC News.
The temporary closure was due to a “strong odor” at Potomac TRACON that is affecting some air traffic controllers, the FAA told the Washington Examiner. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the FAA is working to address the problem.
Potomac TRACON, a federal aviation facility, is in nearby Warrenton, Virginia.
