An establishment known for its mix of arcade games and food is taking entertainment to another realm: social betting.

Dave & Buster’s announced it would allow customers to wager on arcade games such as Skee-Ball or its Hot Shots basketball game in its retail locations via its app within the next few months.

The betting experience will be facilitated by the software platform Lucra, which allows users to compete for money in friendly competitions.

“We’re thrilled to work with Lucra to bring this exciting new gaming platform to our customers,” said Simon Murray, senior vice president of entertainment and attractions at Dave & Buster’s. “This new partnership gives our loyalty members real-time, unrivaled gaming experiences, and reinforces our commitment to continuing to elevate our customer experience through innovative, cutting-edge technology.”

The partnership likely aims to coax consumers into spending more time at Dave & Buster’s locations as social gaming platforms such as Fliff have been immensely popular and part of a $6 billion social gaming industry.

“Lucra helps our partners drive user adoption, increase retention and engagement and add new monetization streams to their business,” Lucra CEO Dylan Robbins said.

There will be a limit set on the bets, and Lucra said its average bet size has been $10, according to CNBC. The company is also careful not to refer to the games with language like “bet” and “wager” because that brings it closer to games of chance and would have to be regulated as such.

Lucra said its games are of skills, so they are not subject to the same rules.
