Darline Graham Nordone endorsed by ex-rival in SC Senate runoff
Darline Graham Nordone, an interim U.S. Senator from South Carolina and sister of the late Lindsey Graham, received an endorsement from Rep. Russell Fry ahead of her August 25 primary runoff. Interim Sen. Darline Graham Nordone (R-SC) notched an endorsement Friday ahead of her Aug. 25 primary runoff from Rep. Russell Fry (R-SC), a former rival who placed third in this week’s special Republican primary.
Fry characterized Graham Nordone, the sister and successor of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, as one of the “fighters and allies in the Senate who will show up every day and get results” for President Donald Trump.

“Darline knows what it means to struggle, persevere, and keep fighting when life deals you a difficult hand,” Fry wrote in his endorsement posted to social media. “Those experiences shaped her, and I believe they give her a real understanding of the challenges families across South Carolina face.”
Graham Nordone said she was “extremely honored” by Fry’s support and was “excited to continue building a conservative force to fight for President Trump’s America First agenda.”
The Washington Examiner reached out to Graham Nordone’s runoff opponent, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC), for comment.

Graham Nordone, backed by Trump and many Senate Republicans, placed first in Tuesday’s special primary to determine who will inherit the South Carolina Senate seat from her late brother for a full six-year term that begins in early January 2027. Graham Nordone was appointed as interim senator and will serve until the end of the seat’s current term regardless of the runoff outcome.

Graham Nordone received just under 33% of the vote. Norman finished second with roughly 24.5%. A majority was required to avoid a runoff, but the votes were ultimately split among nine candidates.
The victor of the runoff is all but certain to win the November general election against Democratic nominee Annie Andrews for what is a safe Republican seat.
