Dad killed defending son in $30 schoolyard dispute, says fiancee.

Maryland Man Dies After Standing Up to Bullies Who Targeted His Son

Christopher Wright, a 43-year-old man from Maryland, tragically lost his life after standing up to bullies who targeted his son. According to the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office, Wright was savagely beaten by “3-4 white males, mid 20’s to mid 30’s” who came to his home. He passed away the following day.

The attack was reportedly sparked by fights at school that began over a $30 dispute. Wright’s son, Trenton, 14, was involved in the scuffles. Tracy Karopchinsky, Wright’s fiancée, said that five people arrived at their home and demanded to see Trenton. When Wright came out to tell them that his son wouldn’t be fighting, they threatened to come in and get him. They then turned on Wright, who did not fight back.

Karopchinsky said that the damage inflicted on Wright was not just from punching, and that he may have been hit with a blunt object. She also noted that the attackers continued to hit Wright even after he was on the ground. Wright’s hands were not swollen, indicating that he did not fight back. He suffered severe brain damage and underwent emergency surgery, but it was too late.

Stop the Violence

Karopchinsky spoke out about the rampant violence among teens and the need for parents to take responsibility. “It’s not the school’s responsibility. It’s our responsibility,” she said. The attack on Wright was a tragic reminder of the devastating consequences of bullying and violence.
