Cruz Weighs In On Trump Indictment: ‘Puts America On A Road That Is A Very, Very Bad Road’
Senator Ted Cruz from Texas heavily criticized Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for his attempts to investigate former President Donald Trump over accusations of hush money payments made years ago on Friday. On his podcast “Verdict” co-hosted by Ben Ferguson, Cruz branded the indictment as “outrageous.”
Cruz further stated that the indictment against Trump was baseless and completely frivolous political vengeance from Alvin Bragg, a left-wing democrat elected by billionaire George Soros, who spent more than a million dollars to ensure Bragg won the NYC District Attorney’s office.
Cruz added that the case would disintegrate once it enters the court as there is no evidence to support the accusations. He went further and compared the situation to living in a dictatorship or a banana republic, such as North Korea, Venezuela or Cuba. He also highlighted America’s foundation on the rule of law, which should apply to everyone.
Although Cruz revealed that the entire situation was devastating for the rule of law and would harm the confidence that American citizens have in the justice system, he stated that it was an enormous gift from a political standpoint for Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is expected to appear in the Manhattan courthouse on Tuesday afternoon, as per court officials. Joe Tacopina, a former attorney for Donald Trump, said that he doesn’t anticipate his client will be handcuffed when he turns himself in, and he won’t entertain a plea deal.
Cruz suggested that this indictment sets a precedent for U.S. presidents getting indicted, as this is just the beginning.
Cruz warned that this move would put America in a bad position. Drawing from history, he stated that although he is not a Nixon supporter, the then-President, Richard Nixon, had committed heinous crimes that warranted indictment. However, Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon since he believed that dragging out the process could hurt America.
