Conservative organization invests $15 million in ads criticizing Senator Tester’s stance on immigration
A conservative group, One Nation, is spending $15 million on ads criticizing Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) for his immigration stance, mentioning his views on the border wall, sanctuary cities, and illegal immigrant amnesty. The organization calls on Tester to back Sen. Ted Cruz’s Secure The Border Act. In response, Tester’s campaign underscores his efforts on tough border security and combating the fentanyl crisis.
A conservative organization is spending $15 million on an advertising campaign blasting Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) for his record on immigration, highlighting his position on the border wall, sanctuary cities, and amnesty for illegal immigrants.
The ad buy was made by One Nation, a group aligned with Senate GOP leadership, Politico reported. The $15.2 million ad buy began on Friday with plans to run through the summer as we near the November elections.
“Tell Sen. Tester, stop supporting Biden’s border disaster,” the advertisement says, asserting that the Democrat Senator from Montana “voted repeatedly to fund sanctuary cities like New York,” and criticizing his support of amnesty.
The ad also pushes Tester to support Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) Secure The Border Act, which would restart construction on the border wall and reimplement the Remain in Mexico policy.
One Nation President Steve Law attacked Tester’s record on immigration again in a statement. “Senator Tester has repeatedly voted to fund sanctuary cities and grant amnesty to illegal immigrants,” Law asserted. “He even voted to allow President Biden to stop building the border wall. Senator Jon Tester needs to stop supporting President Biden’s border disaster.”
Tester campaign spokeswoman Monica Robinson fired back, defending Tester’s record. “Mitch McConnell’s dark money group is flooding Montana with millions of dollars to lie about Jon Tester’s record of fighting to pass one of the toughest border security bills in decades, cracking down on the fentanyl crisis, and his opposition to sanctuary cities.”
The Democratic Senate Majority PAC has set aside $27 million for the Montana Senate race, an election that could be pivotal in deciding which party has control of the Senate.

Immigration is slated to be one of the biggest issues this election season, with President Joe Biden facing severe disapproval among the public for his handling of the border. One recent poll found that only 36 percent of registered voters saying they approve of his performance on the issue, the lowest of any topic.
The advertisement comes as the United States faces an unprecedented surge of illegal aliens with over 10 million crossing the border since Joe Biden took office. There have been over one million illegal immigrant encounters on the southern border in just the first six months of fiscal year 2024. There have also been an estimated 1.7 million illegal immigrant gotaways recorded since Biden took office in 2021. There were 415,000 total reported gotaways for 2018, 2019, and 2020 under the Trump administration.
