Congress Boots Anti-Semitic Democrat Ilhan Omar From Foreign Affairs Committee

Thursday’s narrow vote by the House to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar, D., Minn. (D.), for her anti-Semitic remarks was narrow.

Omar was defeated by Democrats in a 218 to 211 vote. No Republican joined Democrats in opposing her removal from the committee, though Rep. David Joyce (R., Ohio) voted present.

The anti-Israel Democrat has a history in which she has used anti-Semitic tropes. This has earned her censure within her own party. Reps. Victoria Spartz (R., Ind.), Nancy Mace (R., S.C.), and Ken Buck (R., Colo.) criticized Spartz said that Omar’s removal was based on procedural grounds.
