Concha says Democrats will ‘pay a big price’ for embracing Hasan Piker

Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha warned that a tight primary race in Florida is the latest sign the Democratic Party is being pulled toward socialism and cautioned that embracing left-wing influencers such as Hasan Piker will cost Democrats dearly in the midterm elections.
“Two years ago, Moskowitz wasn’t even challenged by anyone from the Democrat side,” Concha said on Fox Business’s Varney & Company Monday, pointing to Rep. Jared Moskowitz’s (D-FL) primary battle against challenger Oliver Larkin, who is backed by the Democratic Socialists of America.

The Florida primary marks the latest major midterm test of DSA strength before the general election, after the group suffered a setback the week prior when socialist Francesca Hong lost her bid for Wisconsin governor to Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, a more mainstream Democrat, 39.8%-39.4%.
Concha argued the party’s leftward drift, including platform policies such as abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prisons and defunding police, will hurt Democrats in swing states even if it wins deep-blue primaries.
“They want to abolish ICE, abolish prisons, defund the police, seize major private corporations, and have the government run them instea, implement a 32-hour work week — that sounds productive — cancel all student debt, implement national rent control, which is working great here in New York City,” Concha said.
“We got record-high rents, and then, obviously, allow anyone in the country illegally to vote and grant all legals permanent citizenship status,” Concha said. “So, yeah, if this is what’s taking over the Democrat Party, this is a party that, while they may win in deep-blue districts, they’re not going to win nationally in purple states.”

Concha then turned to Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, calling him “absolutely radical and absolutely dangerous.” Piker sparked GOP attacks after a resurfaced 2019 clip showed him claiming America “deserved” the 9/11 attacks. He has also called Orthodox Jews “inbred,” among other controversial remarks.
Concha noted prominent political figures in the Democratic Party including Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Michigan Senate nominee Abdul el Sayed‘s continued association with Piker, saying, “if Democrats want to affiliate themselves with this maniac, because, oh, wow, he’s a popular podcaster, you’re going to pay a big price at the polls, because this is somebody who is not just kind of far to the left, he is absolutely radical and absolutely dangerous.”
