CNN tried to call out Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) for stating that illegal immigrants could possibly expose Texans to COVID-19. During an interview with CNBC, Abbott said infected migrants have poured into the country due to Biden’s relaxed restrictions. CNN claimed that Abbott did not have evidence to back his words up.

“His administration has been releasing, in south Texas, immigrants who came across the border that they refused to test,” Abbott noted. “It turns out that more than 100 of them had COVID.”

In a CNN report posted online, it reads: “After relaxing state COVID restrictions this week, Abbott alleged, without evidence, that migrants coming into Texas are exposing the state’s residents to the coronavirus.”

However, the mainstream media outlet’s attempt to pigeonhole the Republican governor quickly crumbled. In the same report that blasted Abbott’s claims as baseless, CNN itself cited the mayor of the border city of Brownsville, Texas who confirmed: “108 migrants out of about 1,700 have tested positive in the city.”

Although CNN tried to cry foul over the Texas governor, the media outlet debunked its own reporting. Abbott added Biden’s relaxed restrictions caused the migrants to be released by ICE and transported elsewhere despite their positive tests.

“We’re dealing with a world pandemic and we’re bringing in people from across the entire world that the Biden Administration is not adequately testing, not quarantining, not doing anything…to prevent the spread of a pandemic in Texas,” Abbott said. “But also putting these people on buses and sending them places. This is a very irresponsible and reckless approach by the Biden administration.”

The White House has peddled its own narrative. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki recently defended Biden when he said the Texas and Mississippi governors’ moves to remove mask mandates were “neanderthal thinking.”

“What everybody saw yesterday was a reflection of his frustration and exasperation….that for almost a year now people across the country…haven’t had information they need from the federal government,” Psaki said. “They haven’t had access to a greater understanding of what the public health guidelines should look like, and those include many, many people in Mississippi and Texas, in Ohio, Florida, in every state across the country.”

While the White House said the U.S. needs to follow public health guidelines, the administration has not listened to its own advice at the southern border, which gives renewed meaning to “do what I say, not as I do.”
