Christopher Bell Apologizes to William Byron After Blaming Ross Chastain for Late Race Accident at Richmond
Christopher Bell has apologized to William Byron after spinning him out near the end of the race at Richmond Raceway this past Sunday. He initially blamed Ross Chastain for the incident but has since taken responsibility for his actions.
With just 21 laps left in the race, Bell attempted to block Chastain’s run, but he was too late, and as he moved up the track, he collided with Byron’s left rear quarter panel, sending him spinning into the outside wall.
Following the conclusion of the race, Bell initially placed the blame on Chastain, describing him as a “wrecking ball” and a “bonzai.” However, he has since taken responsibility for his actions and apologized to Byron on Twitter.
Although he apologized to Byron and admitted fault, Bell did not publicly apologize to Chastain.
Chastain, on the other hand, denied causing the wreck and took issue with Bell’s comments. He pointed out that there was no contact with Byron and that he just took an aggressive line and held it on the restart.
Despite the incident, Bell and Chastain remain competitive on the track, and there is no word of any lasting animosity between the two drivers.
