China Scolds Sec of State Blinken Over Biden Response to Spy Balloon

On Saturday, Wang Yi, China’s top diplomat, met with Antony Blinken (U.S. Secretary Of State) in Munich.

Wang and Blinken had their first meeting in person since the spy balloon incident, so Wang lectured Blinken on President Joe Biden’s. “hysterical” Wang responded to the balloon. Blinken informed Wang that China’s surveillance-bomber flights are an “anonymous” operation. “unacceptable violation of U.S. sovereignty and international law.”

Wang and Blinken met on the sidelines at the Munich Security Conference (MSC) – which is proud to offer “protected space for informal meetings between officials” The MSC will also be publishing a list of invited speakers and a formal agenda. MSC hopes these meetings can help ease international tensions through informal diplomacy.

Blinken He “condemned the incursion of the PRC [People’s Republic of China] surveillance balloon and stressed it must never happen again.”

Blinken expressed disappointment after the meeting that Beijing had not agreed to a direct dialog between the U.S. military and the Chinese militaries regarding the balloon incident.

“He stated, candidly stated, our disappointment that in this recent period that our Chinese military counterparts had refused to pick up the phone. We think that’s unfortunate. And that is not the way that our two sides ought to be conducting business,” A senior State Department official Sunday

China’s interpretation of the meeting was quite different to that of the State Department. According to Chinese state media Wang claimed that the entire blame for the balloon incident was on Wang. “absurd and hysterical” The Biden administration reacted and denounced the demise of the balloon as an act of war. “abuse of the use of force,” Blinken told him that his government would be responsible for repairing the damage. “damage” It has impacted U.S.-China relations.

China’s state-run Global Times Sunday Hailed Wang’s statesmanship for his willingness to meet with Blinken and lay out what the Biden administration must do to clean up its mess – hinted to be a laundry list of geopolitical and economic concessions from Washington that go far beyond apologizing and promising not to shoot down any more Chinese spy balloons.

Public remarks made by Wang to MSC were patronizing and sarcastic.

When asked about China-US relations, Wang said that the incident with the airship was actually a US political farce. The US ignored these facts and sent military jets to strike down an airship without threat. This is a shocking, almost comical, and clearly an abuse of force.

“China will never accept this and has lodged strong protests with the US,” Wang said. Wang stated that there are many balloons above the Earth each day. Will the US shoot them all? The Chinese diplomat was curious.

Wang pointed out that the US has made strategic mistakes and misunderstandings about China.

Wang described China as being peaceful and only interested in global prosperity. The warmongering United States was, however. “using all means to crack down on China and coerce other countries to follow suit.”

“There are many balloons floating above the Earth every day, is the US going to shoot them all down?” Wang asked this question at one of the MSC press conferences.

Another Global Times Article Sunday Blinken was lectured by Wang about what the Biden administration should do “rectify its wrong approach” Demonstrate “sincerity in fixing U.S.-China relations.”

The Global Times Wang was able to avoid wasting time with Blinken because of the length of Wang’s meeting.

“What the U.S. needs to do is demonstrate sincerity and face up to and resolve the damage that its abuse of force has done to China-U.S. relations. If the US continues to dramatize, hype up or escalate the situation, China will surely respond by doing what is necessary. All consequences arising thereof shall be borne by the U.S. side,” The Chinese Foreign Ministry spoke out after the Wang Blinken meeting.

Yet another Global Times Editorial Sunday Built Wang Yi’s comments to Blinken, Biden, and Biden for allegedly violating international Law by shooting the spy satellite down were quite a bit harsh.

The “balloon incident” The facts are now very clear. Wang accurately described US practices using three phrases: Abusing force, Overreacting and Hyping the Situation. This conclusion is solid and based upon facts and international law. This whole incident was an example of the US using force to politicize and magnify an accidental event and to smear China. The US has not just escalated the matter but also confused the international community. To ensure an accurate understanding of the facts, it is important that we repeat the correct and incorrect parts of this complicated accident to the world.

While there have been precedents for similar incidents, none has been as bad as the US. There are several important facts to remember: First, it was a civilian, unmanned airship. Second, the US forced the airship into its airspace through force majeure. Third, the US did not perceive the airship as posing a threat. Fourth, China informed the US of the incident. This means that China has always complied with international law and acted responsibly. However, the US chose the most violent and drastic way of handling the situation – wielding military force instead of law enforcement force, using advanced fighter jets and firing missiles to shoot down the unmanned airship, which violates both the Article 2(4) UN Charter that “All members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force” abide by the principles of necessity, proportionality and fairness in international law regarding the use force. It is a classic example of an abuse of force.

The Global Times Biden warned that Biden’s “behavioral art” It is a demonstration of balloon-busting “perilous and could even lead to unexpected conflicts.”

The editorial ended by praising Wang for telling Blinken about America’s. “abuse of force” Forbidden balloons “set an extremely bad and dangerous precedent and intensified the entire global situation.”
