Sen. Cruz: Cartels fully control our southern border.

Sen. Ted Cruz: Democrat Policies Have ⁢Given Cartels Control of the Southern Border

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is deeply concerned about the state of the southern⁣ border, placing the blame for illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and human trafficking ‌squarely on the shoulders of Democrat policies.

Having⁤ personally visited the border multiple ⁢times, Mr.⁢ Cruz asserts that “if⁤ you haven’t seen it firsthand, you can’t understand ⁢what’s happening.” ⁣During a midnight‌ tour with Border Patrol⁣ and fellow members of ⁤Congress,‍ he witnessed “dozens of cartel members,⁤ screaming⁣ across the river and taunting in Spanish, ‘you ⁤can’t stop us.'”

Regrettably, he admits that they are right. “The cartels have 100 percent operational ⁤control‍ over our southern border,” he revealed.

Texas Reclaims Drug Smuggling⁣ Island From Mexican ⁤Cartels: Todd Bensman on ⁣Witnessing What Happened

10/7/2023

“Nobody crosses‌ the ⁤border without paying the cartels,” he declared. “If you try ‍to cross the border without paying‍ the cartels, they’ll kill you.”

According to Mr. Cruz, “In 2018, the Mexican drug cartels made roughly $500 ‍million⁤ from human⁣ trafficking,” ⁢and “last year, the cartels made over⁢ $13 billion from human trafficking.”

For the ⁢cartels, Mr. Cruz believes that “the very best thing to happen is Joe Biden becoming president.” ⁤He claims that “Joe Biden and open border Democrats have transformed the Mexican drug cartels‍ into ⁤international multi-billion dollar empires.” Meanwhile, he laments that “the people of Mexico are⁤ victims of these cartels who have become the most powerful⁣ force in‍ the nation with tens of‍ billions of dollars behind them.”

“Mexican⁣ drug cartels are vicious criminals and murderers,” ⁣he asserted. “They’re not⁢ viewing the people being ⁢trafficked into‌ the country,⁣ not⁢ as human beings, but as nothing more⁣ than cargo.”

Every‍ year, thousands of women ‌are sexually ⁣assaulted by ⁢human traffickers, ‌and “thousands ‍and thousands of children, little boys ⁢and little girls, are brutalized by human traffickers,” he added.

As people are trafficked into the United States, Mr. Cruz reveals that “if someone falls sick or falls behind, they are left to ‍die.” He ‍has seen photographs provided by Texas farmers and ranchers, showing “elderly people, toddlers, or pregnant ⁢women abandoned by the cartels to ⁤die in the heat because they can’t keep⁢ up.”

The senator has even witnessed⁤ “a dead body floating in the [Rio Grande] ⁣ River, the body of someone who tried⁢ to ‌cross but died.” ‌ He points ‍out that 853 migrants died crossing illegally last year.

According to Mr. Cruz, there’s a reason President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala ‍Harris have not visited ‍the‌ southern border. He ⁤believes that “if they⁢ visited ⁣the border, reporters would follow⁣ with⁢ TV cameras and the American people would realize what’s really happening down here.”

The Biden administration claims to seek a‍ more humane immigration system, but Republicans criticize their policies ⁣as too lax. ‌They point to record numbers of illegal‍ immigrant ‌crossings and overwhelmed⁤ cities.

The White ⁤House ⁣and the Department of Homeland Security did not respond to requests for comment.

A Dangerous Spiral

Despite‍ receiving ‌little support from the White House, Sen. Cruz commends the work of U.S. ⁤Customs and Border Patrol in combating⁣ illegal immigration, drug trafficking, ⁢and human trafficking. He describes them as “American heroes” and ‍”patriots.”

However, ⁣he acknowledges that⁣ “morale has never ⁢been remotely as low as it is right now.” ⁣Working in a harsh environment where they risk their ⁢lives dealing‍ with vicious criminals, ⁢drug traffickers, and human traffickers takes a toll.

According to‍ Mr. Cruz, apprehending these criminals is futile because “political superiors are allowing these people to be brought in, then turned around and‍ let go to‌ do ‌it all over again the very next ‌day at times.”

Despite ⁢the challenges,⁤ Sen. Cruz ⁤expresses gratitude for the dedication of Border Patrol ⁢agents. He believes they are being⁢ undermined ⁤by political figures ⁣in the Biden administration.

Border Patrol Chief Says ⁣Cartels Using Illegal⁤ Immigrants to Distract ⁣From Drug Smuggling‍ Operations

Cruz explains that Democrat policies such as lax border enforcement, sanctuary‍ cities, and support for amnesty have created an environment that empowers ‍cartels to exploit vulnerabilities along the border. These policies not only endanger American ‍lives but also allow for the trafficking of drugs and humans, further enriching the cartels.

He highlights the fact that the Biden administration’s decision to halt⁤ construction⁢ of the border wall and reverse several Trump-era immigration⁤ policies has only worsened the situation. The lack of a⁣ physical barrier and⁢ the reinstatement of catch-and-release policies have emboldened cartels who now have free rein to cross the border at will.

Furthermore, Cruz⁣ points out that the current administration’s rhetoric and nonchalant approach ⁣to border security ‌only ‌encourage more people to‌ attempt illegal crossings. By not emphasizing the consequences or actively deterring illegal immigration, the Biden administration is ‍indirectly promoting the activities of criminal organizations.

In order to address this crisis, Cruz proposes the reinstatement of‍ Trump-era policies ⁤such as the Remain⁤ in Mexico policy,⁣ which required asylum‍ seekers to remain‍ in Mexico while awaiting their court hearings. He also advocates for increased border security funding to ensure that law enforcement agencies have the ⁣necessary resources to combat cartels and prevent illegal crossings.

Additionally, Cruz believes that the United States must collaborate closely with Mexico and other Central American countries to address the root causes of migration. By ⁢improving economic opportunities and security in these nations, the‍ incentive for ‌individuals to risk ⁤their lives and ‍engage with cartels will decrease.

Ultimately, Cruz urges his colleagues on both sides of the aisle to prioritize the security and well-being of American citizens over partisan ‌politics. The crisis at the southern border requires immediate attention and effective solutions. It is time for ⁤Democrats to ‍acknowledge the role ⁤their policies have played⁣ in enabling cartels and work towards implementing ⁢comprehensive immigration reforms ⁢that prioritize the safety and security of the United States.
