Capitol Police chief blasts Tucker Carlson for saying officers acted as ‘tour guides’ on Jan. 6

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger criticized Tucker Carlson for not covering the Jan. 6 attacks that featured never-before-seen surveillance footage Photograph taken inside the Capitol during the Riot.

Manger charged Carlson that he deliberately selected the wrong people video clips This was shown to be the “calmer moments” While showing footage from the Capitol riot, Carlson fails to give context. Carlson displayed the footage during Monday’s show to prove that the incident occurred. “mostly peaceful” gathering of protesters — even going so far as to accuse other news outlets of falsely characterizing the attack as an “insurrection.”

MCCARTHY HIT WITH ETHICS COMPLAINT AFTER HANDING OVER JAN. 6 TAPES TO TUCKER CARLSON

“Last night an opinion program aired commentary that was filled with offensive and misleading conclusions about the January 6 attack,” Manger wrote in an internal memo To USCP Officers “The program conveniently cherry-picked from the calmer moments of our 41,000 hours of video. The commentary fails to provide context about the chaos and violence that happened before or during these less tense moments.”

Carlson used footage to show Jacob Chansley. He has since been called the “QAnon Shaman,” Chansley is seen walking through the Capitol, without any resistance from security officers. Chansley, along with two security officers, is shown walking up to the Senate chamber. Later, Chansley takes a picture inside.

While walking around, video footage does not appear to show any of the officers intervening — prompting Carlson to accuse Capitol Police of being complicit “as his tour guides.” As there are no audio tapes, it is not possible to see if Chansley was conversing with the officers.

Manger called Carlson’s accusations false and reacted to them with force. “outrageous and false.”

“This Department stands by the officers in the video that was shown last night,” Manger wrote. “I don’t have to remind you how outnumbered our officers were on January 6. Those officers did their best to use de-escalation tactics to try to talk rioters into getting each other to leave the building.”

Carlson claimed Democrats were lying about various aspects of Jan. 6’s riots including Brian Sicknick’s passing. Sicknick was found dead from natural causes on the day of Capitol riot. However, an autopsy report concluded that he had died naturally. “all that transpired (on January 6) played a role in his condition.”

Carlson tried to minimize his loss and accused Democrats of using Sicknick’s death as an excuse. “prop” “martyr.”

“The most disturbing accusation from last night was that our late friend and colleague Brian Sicknick’s death had nothing to do with his heroic act
