Catholic MLB pitcher speaks up against Dodgers’ tribute to drag ‘nuns’, refuses to stay silent.

Washington Nationals Pitcher Trevor Williams Takes a Stand Against Dodgers’ Controversial Decision

Washington Nationals pitcher Trevor Williams is making headlines after his viral tweet calling out the LA Dodgers’ decision to honor an LGBT drag group that mocks Christians, particularly Catholics. Williams, a devout Catholic, husband, and father of four, was one of the few MLB players to speak out against the Dodgers’ actions.

In his first interview since the controversy, Williams told EWTN, “It had to be said. We cannot stand idly by while Our Lord gets mocked.”

Teaming Up with Hallow for a Sacred Heart Prayer Challenge

Williams is now teaming up with the popular Christian app Hallow to launch an exclusive and completely free 12-Day Sacred Heart Prayer Challenge. The challenge will begin on Friday, June 16, which coincides with the solemnity of the Sacred Heart, the same day the Dodgers will be honoring the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” with a “Community Hero Award.”

“These prayers bring everyone together under the love of Christ and allow us to align our hearts with His during these divisive times,” said Hallow.

Williams emphasized the importance of faith in his life, stating, “[When] St. Peter greets me at the gates, he’s not going to ask about my win-loss record in 2023. He’s going to ask, ‘How did you build the kingdom of heaven?'”

Expressing his disappointment with the Dodgers, Williams said, “To invite and honor a group that blatantly and deeply mocks my religion, as well as the religion of over 4 million people in Los Angeles county alone, undermines the values of respect and inclusivity that should be upheld by any organization.”

He added, “Creating an environment where one group feels celebrated and honored at the expense of another is counterproductive and wrong.”

Williams further explained to EWTN that the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” not only mock Catholics but all Christians. He stated, “Anyone with two eyes and a brain can see that they’re mocking the religious habits of nuns, they’re mocking what we hold most deeply and our core convictions.”

He continued, “When you go out of your way to steal a consecrated Eucharistic host to defile it, that is not out of love; when you’re desecrating a crucifix or dancing on what appears to be Jesus on a cross, that isn’t out of love. We look at the cross and the crucifixion, and we see Jesus dying for us and His blood washing us of our sin. For someone to do that in the name of ‘art’ and ‘tolerance,’ it simply doesn’t make sense.”
