Cam Newton Claims His Hairstyle is the Reason for His Unemployment

Cam Newton, the former quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, has been without a contract since his release in 2021. However, he recently revealed on the Undefined with Josina Anderson podcast that his lack of a contract isn’t due to his playing ability, but rather his refusal to change his hairstyle.

Newton stated that he will not change his hairstyle, no matter what people say. He added that “people have hinted” to him that the league dumped him because he isn’t the “clean-cut Cam” he once was because of his dreadlock-style hair.

Embracing Who He Is

Newton explained that he is happy with who he is and won’t change for anyone. “Right now, where I’m at, it’s about embracing who I am,” he said. He also pointed out that other quarterbacks in the league have long hair but aren’t criticized for it.

Despite his unemployment, Newton is content with his life. “Where I’m at right now in my life—do I need the NFL? No. Does the NFL need me? Hell no. And I think that understanding is the reason why I’m able to kinda be fine,” he said.

Newton has always been outspoken, both on and off the field. Last year, he advised women to stop being “bad bitches” and get back to cooking and cleaning for their men. He clarified that he wasn’t using the term to degrade women, but rather to describe those who prioritize their appearance over their actions.
