It would be preferable, given the raging conflict in Ukraine and the lingering threat of nuclear war, if President Joe Biden could open his mouth and say something that didn’t require an immediate “walk back” or “clarification” from his panicked White House communications team.

Alas, Grandpa Joe continues to blurt out the scrambled contents of his dementia-addled brain on a regular basis. From the very beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, when Biden suggested the United States would tolerate Russia launching a “minor incursion” into the country, the White House has been walking back his public statements.

In the last several days alone, Biden suggested American troops would be sent to Ukraine, and appeared to call for regime change in Russia when he said Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power.” The White House immediately walked the gaffes back. “The President’s point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region. He was not discussing Putin’s power in Russia, or regime change,” a White House official said in a statement that implies the American people are stupid.
