The murder trial of billionaire real estate developer Robert Durst has continued as his brother Douglas Durst took the stand as a witness for the prosecution. On Monday, Douglas provided character testimony about his brother and detailed their life growing up together in New York City.

“He treated me miserably. He would fight with me at every chance,” he explained. “He would embarrass me at every opportunity and it was a very difficult relationship.”

Robert Durst has been on trial for the 2000 murder of his friend Susan Berman, which prosecutors alleged was an attempt to prevent her from sharing information she may have had about the disappearance of his wife Kathie. Kathie’s disappearance happened 18 years prior.

The crime saga made headlines due to its twists and turns. Onlookers have questioned how a man, who has been sitting in court confined to a wheelchair with such poor health his trial was delayed for a year, could have possibly committed three murders in various states over the span of 20 years.

The tale became the subject of an HBO documentary on Robert’s life. That documentary would later become evidence against him when Robert’s apparent confession was caught on a hot mic.

“What the hell did I do?” he stated. “Killed them all, of course.”

Douglas finished his testimony by telling prosecutors that he had little doubt his brother was capable of all he has been accused of. When asked by the prosecuting attorney about his current relationship with Robert, Douglas said he believes his brother would like to murder him.
