A beautiful wedding day turned into a nightmare for a newlywed couple in Folly Beach, South Carolina. Samantha Hutchinson, 34, was killed and her husband, Aric Hutchinson, was seriously injured when a suspected drunk driver crashed into their golf cart as they were leaving their wedding reception. Two other family members were also injured in the accident.

The driver, 25-year-old Jamie Lee Komoroski, was traveling at 65 mph in a 25 mph zone and hit the brakes briefly before crashing into the golf cart from behind. The golf cart rolled over several times and was thrown a distance of 100 yards. Despite being equipped with lights and legally driving on the road at night, the couple and their family members were no match for the force of the collision.
The Aftermath
Samantha Hutchinson’s sister, Mandi Jenkins, spoke out about the tragedy, saying, “My sister, a daughter, a wife, died in her wedding dress because someone made a terrible decision to get in the car.” The groom’s mother, Annette Hutchinson, set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical expenses and the bride’s burial. The campaign has raised over $600,000 so far.

Komoroski admitted to drinking before getting behind the wheel and was charged with one count of reckless vehicular homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm. Samantha’s family hopes that justice will be served and that others will learn from this tragedy.
