Brian Walshe, a resident of Cohasset, Massachusetts, was charged with murder on Thursday in relation to his wife Ana Walshe’s disappearance. Ana, a corporate real estate investment manager and mother, vanished at the beginning of the year, prompting a massive search.

The accused, Brian, was already indicted on murder and other charges in January, but he pleaded “not guilty” to all counts, requiring a subsequent trial.

According to the police affidavit, Brian said he last saw his spouse in the morning of January 1st, when she told him she had a work emergency in Washington, D.C., and left their home in a hurry.

Prosecutors stated that there was no evidence that Ana Walshe, 39, ever arrived in D.C., or that she took her usual taxi or rideshare car to the airport.

Officials claim that they discovered irrefutable evidence this week that Brian killed and dismembered his wife and disposed of her remains.

Once the Norfolk County Grand Jury issues an indictment, the case will be transferred from district court to county superior court, and a fresh arraignment will be scheduled, according to County District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey.

The prosecutors claimed that Brian carried out a series of incriminating internet searches, including “How long before a body starts to smell?” and “How to stop the decay of a body?”

Ana had amassed a $2.8 million property portfolio, which her husband reportedly aspired to acquire after her death, according to his search history.

Crime investigators discovered ten rubbish bags of evidence, including a saw, a hatchet, and several objects that had both Brian and Ana’s DNA, at a garbage collection facility.

The day after his wife had last seen, Brian allegedly spent $450 on cleaning products, mops, tape, and other strange items.

While officials had yet to specify whether her corpse had been found, they claimed that they believed Brian killed his wife to end their marriage and obtain her assets.

Prosecutors allege that he gave police false information about some of his day-to-day activities and whereabouts after she “vanished.”

Walshe is being held without the possibility of posting bail. In Massachusetts, a first-degree murder conviction like this triggers an automatic life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Tracy Miner, Brian’s legal representative, did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

“This is only a step in a long process, during which Brian Walshe enjoys the constitutional presumption of innocence and all of the protections afforded him under the Constitution… We are thankful to the detectives who have put so many hours into assembling the evidence in this matter and the witnesses who have assisted us in coming to this step,” said Morrissey.

Midterm elections just concluded in 2022, but everyone is already thinking about the 2024 election cycle.
