BREAKING: Merrick Garland To Name Special Counsel To Determine Charges Against Trump: Report
Attorney General Merrick Garland will reportedly name a special counsel to determine whether former President Donald Trump should face charges related to Department of Justice probes.
Garland is expected to make the announcement in a press conference on Friday, according to The Wall Street Journal. It is unclear what the scope of the special counsel’s authority may be. The former president announced his run for president in 2024 just days ago from his home at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States,” Trump said during his announcement speech on Tuesday evening. “I am running because I believe the world has not yet seen the true glory of what this nation can be.”
One of the probes Trump faces from the Department of Justice is over classified documents that the former president allegedly stored at his home in Mar-a-Lago. The FBI raided Trump’s residence in August to secure the alleged documents as well as hundreds of other documents from his presidency.
