The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake struck at 7:34 a.m. near El Cairo, Valle del Cauca, Colombia.
The USGS said Ecuador and Panama were also among the affected countries.

According to the Associated Press, the epicenter was in San Jose del Palmar, a city of about 4,800 people in Colombia’s Choco region.
The community is about 250 miles west of Bogota.
