U.S. Customs and Border Protection Seizes 146 Pounds of Cocaine Hidden in Ice Cream Maker
Exciting news! U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents have made a major drug bust, confiscating a whopping 146 pounds of cocaine. And guess where they found it? Hidden inside a ice cream machine.”>commercial ice cream maker! Talk about a sweet disguise!
The action took place at the Bridge of the Americas port in El Paso, Texas, when officers intercepted a 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck coming from Mexico. Using their sharp instincts, they decided to take an X-ray of the vehicle, which revealed some suspicious “anomalies.” But it was their trusty customs canine that really cracked the case, alerting them to the presence of an ice cream machine.
Upon further investigation, the agents discovered a total of 56 bundles of cocaine cleverly concealed within the walls of the large equipment. Impressive, right? They wasted no time in detaining the driver and handing him over to local Texas police. The Border Patrol then swooped in to seize both the narcotics and the vehicle.
“Drugs can be concealed almost anywhere and that’s why we must remain constantly vigilant,”
– Luis Mejia, Acting CBP El Paso Port Director
It’s incidents like these that serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing border crisis in America. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), a candidate in the 2024 GOP primary race, has even pointed to this case as evidence of the growing problem. In fact, he recently introduced the Securing Our Border Act to Congress, a bill aimed at strengthening security measures along the southern border. If passed, it would allocate a whopping $15 billion to fund this crucial endeavor.
This isn’t the first time Border Patrol has made a significant drug seizure. Just a couple of months ago, they confiscated over $2.1 million worth of cocaine in Del Rio, Texas. It’s clear that our dedicated agents are working tirelessly to keep our borders safe and secure.
So, let’s give a round of applause to these brave men and women who are on the front lines, protecting our nation from the dangers of drug smuggling. We owe them a debt of gratitude!
