FBI Official Raises Alarming Concerns About Mar-a-Lago Raid

An FBI Official Raises Concerns About Conduct During Mar-a-Lago Raid

An FBI official has raised serious concerns about the agency’s conduct during its raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence last August. The official’s concerns were detailed in a letter from GOP Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

In the letter, Jordan requested that Garland produce all documents and communications related to the meetings between FBI and Justice Department officials prior to the execution of the search warrant on Trump’s private residence, as well as all documents and communications related to the execution of the search warrant itself.

The letter revealed that during a transcribed interview on June 7, Steven D’Antuono, the former Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Washington field office, expressed strong concerns about the Department’s pursuit of the raid and noted several unusual features in the Department’s handling of the case.

D’Antuono, according to the letter, stated that it was a breach of standard procedure to have the Washington field office conduct the search instead of the Miami field office. He also mentioned that the FBI had learned valuable lessons from the discredited Crossfire Hurricane investigation and emphasized the importance of field offices handling investigations rather than the Headquarters.

The letter further highlighted the lack of a U.S. attorney assigned to the raid, a concern that D’Antuono raised with Justice Department officials but never received a satisfactory answer for. Additionally, D’Antuono expressed his belief that a consensual search of the property should have been attempted before seeking a warrant.

The letter concluded by stating that the indictment against Trump raises serious concerns about a double standard and a miscarriage of justice. The FBI official’s testimony and concerns shed new light on the controversial raid.
