Body Cam Footage Released Showing Incident Between Police And Tyre Nichols
Friday night’s body camera footage was made public. It allegedly shows the interaction between ex-partners. Memphis Police Department officers and Tyre Nichols that allegedly led to Nichols’ death.
Five former officers from Memphis Police Department were arrested and charged with involvement in the death in the incident. The victim, a 29-year-old male, died at a hospital days later.
Local media reported that Nichols passed away on January 10, just three days after he was pulled over by Memphis police in a traffic stop. Nichols and five other former officers are all black.
Authorities stopped Nichols in January 7. “reckless driving” Near Raines Road in Memphis and Ross Road.
Local media were told by police that during the stop, they discovered that a “confrontation occurred,” At that point, Nichols fled police on foot while they tried to apprehend.
“While attempting to take the suspect into custody, another confrontation occurred; however, the suspect was ultimately apprehended,” MPD. “Afterward the suspect complained of having shortness of breath, at which point an ambulance was called to the scene.”

They also face one count each of official oppression or second-degree killing, aggravated assault in concert, and two counts for aggravated child abduction.
Nichols’ mother, RowVaughn Wells, Telled CNN on Friday that those who protest her son’s death should not riot because that is not want her son would have wanted.
“I don’t want us burning up our cities, tearing up the streets, because that’s not what my son stood for,” Wells said. “And if you guys are here for me and Tyre, then you will protest peacefully.”
