Washington Examiner senior columnist Guy Benson said the United Nations has become a “sick joke,” and that the Board of Peace should be an “alternative,” following President Donald Trump’s second meeting with the group.
The Board of Peace was created by Trump to bring countries together to oversee the reconstruction of Gaza and help manage international conflicts.
Benson said on Fox News’s Special Report with Bret Baier on Thursday that he wished the Board of Peace would be an alternative to the U.N.
“I hope it becomes something like that because the United Nations has become worse than useless, a sick joke, putting some of the worst anti-American, anti-western human rights abusers on various commissions in charge of human rights,” Benson said.
Trump announced at the group’s meeting on Thursday that the United States will contribute $10 million to the Board of Peace.
“People would talk about peace in the Middle East, and then they’d go home, and they’d never even think about it again. “The Board of Peace is showing how a better future can be built, starting right here in this room,” Trump added.

Benson said the current state of the U.N. is “preposterous” and “insulting.”
“I think if we can move a lot of our heft, our money, our power elsewhere, that would be a very welcome development.”
