Blue Jays pitcher apologizes for sharing Christian video endorsing boycotts.

Toronto Blue Jays Pitcher Apologizes for Controversial Video

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Anthony Bass apologized Tuesday after he shared a video to social media supporting boycotts against Bud Light and Target following the companies’ promotion of left-wing ideology.

Bass, 35, came under fire after sharing a video discussing the biblical reasons why Christians should boycott companies pushing pride-themed content on consumers. He has since removed the post, according to a report.

A Win for the GOP

“I recognize, yesterday, I made a post that was hurtful to the Pride community, which includes friends of mine, close family members of mine, and I am truly sorry for that,” Bass told the media ahead of the Blue Jays game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

“I just spoke with my teammates and shared with them my actions yesterday, and I apologized with them, and, as of right now, I am using the Blue Jays’ resources to better educate myself to make better decisions moving forward.”

Baseball is for everyone, according to the reliever. “The ballpark is for everybody. We include all fans at the ballpark, and we want to welcome everybody,” he said. “That’s all I have to say.”

The Blue Jays will host a Pride Weekend celebration from June 9-10, and Bass will undergo multiple “steps” following his actions, according to team manager John Schneider.

  • “We’re not going to pretend like this never happened. We’re not going to pretend like it’s the end and move on,” Schneider said.
  • “There are definitely more steps that are going to follow,” he continued, adding that Bass will likely not face disciplinary action by the team.

It’s important to remember that inclusivity is key in sports and in life. Let’s continue to work towards a world where everyone feels welcome and accepted.
