Black Privilege Is On Full Display When This Track Star Is Removed From Flight

Do you remember Sha’Carri Richardson? She is a talented, young athlete who qualified as a track and field sprinter for the 2020 Summer Olympics. 

Because of COVID, the Olympics had to be postponed by a year. So she was now set to compete during the summer 2021. The results of her cannabis test result led to her being suspended for one month right before the games started. Because of that, Sha’Carri was passed over by Team USA for a spot on the Olympic team.

Her suspension was met with outrage by many. Sha’Carri’s excuse was that she was anxious and emotionally upset over the loss of her estranged biological mother.

She was raised by her grandmother and had a difficult childhood. Her grief at the loss of her mother was understandable. Who wouldn’t be? She said she smoked marijuana to cope with the tragedy.

This situation would be very upsetting for anyone.

Yet, knowing Olympic officials are going to perform a drug test, it doesn’t seem like a viable excuse for doing drugs. These are the rules.

Many leftists and pro-BLM pundits, however, attempted to turn the situation into a racial injustice crusade — as if she were suspended because she’s black and passed over by Team USA due to her skin color.

Now, it must be said, Sha’Carri is a tremendously gifted young woman. She should come back. I also want her to succeed in her career. We all want her success in her sport as well as in life.

But people don’t become successful if they are handed excuses.

She can turn her situation into a race-based one, which gives her the illusion that she is a black person. It’s giving her the idea that she doesn’t have to abide by the rules, because she can say, “I’m black, I’m suffering. I’m the victim.”

She was recently allegedly ejected from an American Airlines flight because she was arguing with a flight attendant who asked her to stop using her phone as they were going to take off — which is something all passengers have to do.

According to the video, she began arguing with other passengers as well as with employees of AA. For some reason, Sha’Carri thought she could keep recording, even though she was asked to stop — as the flight attendant would do to every other passenger in that situation.

Now, we’ve all been on these flights before. All of us have seen the one person who acts like a jerk onboard, making a scene and delaying the whole plane.

Many of us likely have been told by stewardess to turn off our phones before departure. I’ve been that passenger who is trying to wrap up a phone call, only for a stewardess to request I get off the phone as we’re moving toward the runway.

What should I do? I pick up the phone, and say: “Sorry, I will have to call you back.”

Why? Because I know that I am not an exception. I must follow the rules. I wasn’t targeted for being black — I was asked to get off the phone because that is what the airline requires.

Instead of doing that, it seems Sha’Carri spent her time trying to paint herself as a victim, and she continued recording.

This is an excellent example of black privilege to me. This is something I see all the time.

I was actually in a similar situation when I lived in D.C.

I was walking along a crosswalk while pregnant when a woman of color in a car nearly hit me. I was completely wrong. I called her an idiot — she almost ran me over when I had the right of way — and she rolled down her window, yelled back, and began recording me.

In that instant, it was: “Look at my skin color. I’m black. So if you’re recording to paint yourself as a victim because you just almost hit somebody, then you’ve got the wrong person.”

She thought at that moment: “Why am I recording?” She stopped filming because of this.

Recording people is a way to protect yourself from being recorded. It’s an intimidation tactic used to send a message to those being recorded. It’s not uncommon for viral clips to be taken out-of-context and make you appear like an evil racist.

So, when I saw Sha’Carri recording, it seemed she was setting herself up to play the victim. She had to simply listen and it would have ended in no time. Most likely, she would have been able use her phone in the air.
