Rep. Mark Green’s (R-Tenn.) bill aimed at safeguarding shooting sports at schools nationwide has successfully passed the Senate with unanimous support on September 27. The bill, known as the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act, had already been approved by House lawmakers the day before with a vote of 424–1.
The legislation, which mirrors a previous Senate bill introduced by Sens. John Cornyn (R-Texas), Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.), and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), seeks to amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to authorize federal funding for elementary and secondary education to purchase or utilize weapons for training students in archery, hunting, and other shooting sports.
